According to the CDC, suicide is the second leading cause of death for people ages 10-24. Silence will not make the problem go away.
The young adult fiction titles below include suicide. Sometimes characters are considering it, and other times the protagonist is grieving for someone who died to it. Readers may approach the topic for a number of reasons - morbid curiosity, a fascination with death and tragedy, or to grapple with their own suicidal thoughts. The authors of these books have been approached by grateful readers who thanked them for helping them feel less alone in their personal struggles. Maybe these books will do the same for you, or help you reach out to someone in need of help.
