Collection
Its wonderful when diverse people connect by shared reading. One Book One Community is a book selected to be read by the whole community. Its the biggest and best local book club. The 2019 book selection is Pachinko by Min Jin Lee. The reading culminates in an author event at Richland Library Main.
The goal behind such reading is to engage people of different backgrounds and get them talking to each other about the book they read together. Mary McGrory has rightly said in The Washington Post, in 2002 that “The idea is that the city that opens the same book closes it in greater harmony.”
