Meet the Illustrator: R. Gregory Christie

Award-winning illustrator, R. Gregory Christie, will speak at Richland Library as the featured guest for the 33rd annual Augusta Baker's Dozen: A Celebration of Stories!
Christie is the illustrator of over 50 books for children, including Jazz Baby and Freedom in Congo Square. He has won both the Caldecott Honor and the Boston Globe - Horn Book Award, and he is a six-time recipient of the Coretta Scott King Illustrator Honor.
A book sale and signing will follow.
Mr. Christie’s visit coincides with an exhibit of picture book art which will be on display at Richland Library and the Columbia Museum of Art from February 15 through April 26, 2019. The exhibit, Our Voice: Celebrating the Coretta Scott King Illustrator Award, includes five pieces of art by R. Gregory Christie.
Augusta Baker's Dozen: A Celebration of Stories is an annual event co-sponsored by Richland Library and the School of Library and Information Science at USC. It honors the life and work of the late Augusta Baker, an influential librarian and storyteller, by introducing children to the magic of books and stories. Generous support is provided by the C.G.
