Southern Guitar Festival and Competition

The Southern Guitar Festival and Competition is an annual event bringing world caliber guitarists to Columbia, SC. This three-day festival will include concerts, workshops, lectures, and an international solo and ensemble competition.
SATURDAY, JUNE 8
10:00 a.m. | Solo Competition, Division I (Auditorium)
10:30 a.m. | Division III Competition, Grades 1-8 (Theater)
11:30 a.m. | Division II Competition, High School (Theater)
2:30 - 3:30 p.m. | Introduction to Improvisation workshop by Dr. Bert Ligon (Room 213) -- Bring a guitar to participate. Level = intermediate (at least 3 years of guitar lessons)
3:30 - 4:15 p.m. | Music Education in China presentation by Beijing Guitar Duo (Room 213)
3:30 - 4:30 p.m. | Guitar Idol SC Competition (Theater)
4:30 - 5:15 p.m. | Music from the Republic of Georgia lecture/presentation by Tariel Ibori (Room 214)
7:00 - 8:00 p.m. | Beijing Guitar Duo Concert (Auditorium) **
** Please note that this is an after-hours concert. The library will close as usual at 6:00 p.m., and will re-open at 6:30 p.m. for concert attendees.
