Chief W. H. “Skip” Holbrook
In 2014, Chief Holbrook was appointed Chief of the Columbia Police Department. Under Chief Holbrook’s leadership, the Columbia Police Department is implementing organizational and operational reforms, which have been recognized by the U.S. Department of Justice (USDOJ) for 21st Century policing efforts. 2021 appointee to the National Police Reform and Racial Justice Working Group.
Chief Deputy Gregg Shockley
Deputy Chief Shockley served with state agencies in South Carolina during his law enforcement career. A former South Carolina State Trooper from 1988 until 1994. He moved to the State Law Enforcement Division in 1994 where he had a very successful career holding a variety of positions with SLED. In 2015, he was asked to join Sheriff Koon in Lexington County. He is a graduate of the FBI's Academy's 267th session.
Deputy Chief Maria Yturria
Deputy Chief Yturria began her career with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department in 2003. A graduate of the FBI National Academy Class 270, she has been recognized as a Palmetto Center for Women Honors recipient in the field of Government and Law Enforcement; received the Threat Suppression Award of Excellence in Law Enforcement; and Deputy of the year by the American Legion Post Chapin and Law Enforcement Commendation for Outstanding Public Service.
Chief Chandra McPherson-Gibbs
Chief McPherson-Gibbs began her career in victims’ services at the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office as an advocate. She is a graduate of the first South Carolina Victim Assistance Academy. Chief McPherson-Gibbs is a member of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Victim Advocate Association and became credentialed by the National Organization for Victim Assistance (NOVA) in 2006 as a certified Crisis Responder and completed the Advanced Crisis Response Training of September 2019.
