Fun Patrol With Sheriff Leon Lott
Thursday, June 8, 2023 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Join us for a festive morning celebrating the men and women in blue. It’s a Fun Patrol storytime with the 2021 National Sheriff of the Year Sheriff Leon Lott and the men and women of the Richland County Sheriff Department. Hear storytime with Sheriff Leon Lott. Parents, the “Kidprint” program will be there to provide you with a copy of your child’s fingerprints, and statistical information to be used in emergency situations.
See up-close the K-9 Unit and their specially-skilled canine partners. The K-9 Unit uses service dogs to perform the responsibilities of a general police officer. The police dog is trained to assist police and other law enforcement personnel by searching for drugs and explosives, locating missing people, finding crime scene evidence, protecting people, and attacking criminals who are fleeing from or attacking police officers. The dog is the police officer’s partner not only at work but also at home.
With its Lamborghini doors, upgraded rims and sound system, kids can take pictures and sit in the showstopper of cars, the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) car. The car is used as a conversation-starter for the serious talk of drugs.
Hear how the the Richland County Sheriff Department Forensic Science Lab collects evidence to solve crimes.
Take a picture with the sheriff department's giant mascot.
