Join us to learn the fascinating journey through the life and legacy of Hettie Anderson, a Columbia native and acclaimed African American art model of the Gilded Age who was recently recognized with a historic marker at the location of her homesite.
Local History Associate Karen Strickland be joined by Will Gragg of the Midlands Coin Club to tell the story of Ms. Hettie Anderson's life from her childhood, education, career, and how she ended up on the gold coin. There will also be an opportunity to have a Q&A with a few of Ms. Anderson's descendants who will join the event remotely.
