AiR Presents: Creating Comic Characters with Chuck Brown

Richland Library Artist-in-Residence and graphic novel author and creator Chuck Brown guides children through a fun process of creating unique comic characters and superheroes, through the art of collage.
Participants will explore the basics of character development, and learn the importance of diversity in comic book characters and superheroes.
Chuck Brown is an Eisner and multiple Ringo winning writer. He has written The Punisher, Wolverine, and Black Panther comics for Marvel. He also written Superman, Black Manta, and Aquaman for DC comics. He’s currently writing Disney Villains for Dynamite entertainment. Chuck is the writer and creator of On the Stump, Flawed, and Co-Writer and Co-Creator of Bitter Root for Image Comics. Bitter Root is being adapted as a live action film by Legendary Pictures. Ryan Coogler (Black Panther), Zinzi Evans, and Sev Ohanian will produce the film.
Raised in Latta SC, where one of his first jobs was in the local library. Chuck went to college and settled in Columbia SC, where he currently resides.
