Gift box filled with crocheted facial rounds, bath pouf, back scrubber, and bath soak. Are your loved ones tired of those “spa” gift sets? You know the ones, with the shower gel, lotion, and a mesh pouf? The whole gift basket has WAY too much fragrance and they run you about $15? Yeah…nobody wants that. If you can do a single crochet and a double crochet stitch, you can handmake a quality spa set that your loved ones will enjoy, with just two balls of cotton yarn, for only $10. And as a bonus, everything is reusable so it’s good for the environment too!

If you’re like me, you might have a bit of a Pinterest obsession. A quick search for “crochet spa set” brings up lots of patterns and ideas for you to try. Here are the ones I used for my gift.

I started with these cute facial scrubbies to replace cotton rounds. They’re so soft! You can find the pattern here.

I really liked the idea of this massaging back scrubber, because, let’s face it, most of us can’t reach our backs they way we used to. You can find the pattern here.

Last, I wanted to include a sustainable version of those plastic poufs. I found lots of great patterns, but none quite as fluffy and luxurious as I was looking for. So, here’s the pattern for the pouf I made.

Crocheted lavender and powder blue bath pouf

You will need:

  • 3.5 mm hook
  • Medium (4) weight machine washable and dryable cotton yarn
Pattern:

For the string

Make a magic circle. Chain 50 and slip stich back into the circle.

For the pouf

Round 1: Chain 1, 20 single crochet into the magic circle, join into the beginning single crochet with a slip stitch.

Round 2: Chain 3 (this will count as your first double crochet), 2 double crochet into the first stitch, 3 double crochet into the remaining stitches. Slip stitch to join into the top of the first double crochet.

Round 3: Chain 3 (this will count as your first double crochet), 3 double crochet into the first stitch, 4 double crochet into the remaining stitches. Slip stitch to join into the top of the first double crochet.

Round 4: Chain 3 (this will count as your first double crochet), 4 double crochet into the first stitch, 5 double crochet into the remaining stitches. Slip stitch to join into the top of the first double crochet. Fasten off and weave in all tails.
