Reading about gross topics is a great way to learn about the world around you. Give one or all of these gross books a try!
Lots of kids love things that are slimy, squishy, smelly, and all-around gross. I can recall sitting in a secluded area in my elementary school at age seven and making “mud balls” for classmates. Why? Who knows. But my kid brain was telling me, stick your fingers in that dirt. Luckily, there is science that backs the importance of playing in the dirt:
In the Children’s Room, we have books on tons of gross topics:
Gross body information including poop, scabs, and drool, trash (the history of trash and what we do with it), ‘Weird but True’ facts, unusual history, gross animals, gross science experiments, and even germs and viruses. As we continue to navigate the reality of viruses, these books can help answer questions kids have about the world around them.
We hope you will come by, ask a librarian, or call us at (803) 929-3434 to put amazing and gross books on hold to send to any branch. Happy (gross) reading!
