Growing Your Little One's Creativity
Sharing books together is a great way to nurture your child's imagination. Here are some additional activities that will inspire them:
- Clap it out! When reading a rhyming book or singing a song, clap out the rhythm with your little one.
- Act it out! Act out the song as you read aloud. Who will be the sun and who will be the rain?
- Dance it out! How do you move with the moon and the stars? How does your movement change with the wind and the clouds?
- Draw it out! Using large, easy-to-grasp crayons, draw the things mentioned in the song--the sun, the rain, etc.. Basic shapes--circles, triangles, rectangles--are a great way to start.
- Play it out! Stuffed animals, blocks or little figures can be used to play the different characters in the song.
