Visit Riverbanks Zoo and Garden with one of our 5 circulating Community Passes

We have added five (5) Riverbanks Zoo and Garden Community Passes to the growing collection of loanable passes that circulate with the Library of Things.  The Community Passes are valid only for daytime admission for two (2) adults and up to four (4) children under 18 years of age.

Riverbanks Zoo is one of the largest mid-sized zoos in the United States and South Carolina's leading destination attraction.  The Zoo is home to more than 3,000 magnificent and fascinating animals, and the extraordinary Botanical Garden blooms year-round with more than 5,700 species of native and exotic plants.  Kids of all ages can explore, imagine, and play in Waterfall Junction, a 3-acre interactive children's garden featuring tree houses, a dinosaur dig, and seasonal splash zones.  Soar to new heights aboard the all-new Saluda Skyride, an unforgettable aerial journey connecting the Zoo and Garden as you glide high above the Saluda River.

The Community Passes will be available at our Ballentine, Lower Richland, and Main locations, with another pass being added when our Northeast location's collection opens in late March.

The COMET provides service to Riverbanks Zoo and Garden by way of Route 84 between Downtown Columbia and the St. Andrews community.  Show your Riverbanks Community Pass for free access to and from the Zoo only on Route 84.  Transportation to the Zoo on Route 84 is on request, every 60 minutes, during Riverbanks' regular business hours.

To use a pass from our collections, go to our Library of Things catalog:

  1. Log in with your library card number and pin
  2. Search for the Riverbanks Zoo and Garden Community Pass
  3. Check the availability calendars and reserve a pass at your desired location and date
  4. Make sure to bring a picture ID when you pick up your pass
  5. To use the Community Pass, take the pass to either Riverbanks entrance and show the pass at the gate

To checkout from the Library of Things, you must be:

  1. 18 or older
  2. have signed a waiver
  3. present a government issued ID at time of checkout
  4. have a full Richland Library card with fines under $10
